A/Prof Sloane Madden

A/Prof Sloane Madden is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist recognised for his expertise in the management of eating, mood and anxiety disorders. A/Prof Madden has close to 20 years’ experience in the field of eating disorders. He is the Eating Disorder Service Co-ordinator for the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network and has been the Director of The Eating Disorder Service at the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network (Westmead Campus) NSW since 2000.
A/Prof Madden is a past President of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Eating Disorder, is also a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) and of the US-based Academy of Eating Disorders, where he was the board member responsible for Research Practice Integration.
A/Prof Madden has served as a member and adviser to various professional and government bodies and has participated in the development of the RANZCP’s 2014 Eating Disorder Guidelines for professionals and consumers. He has been a steering committee chair for the Federal Government, Department of Health and Aging funded, National Eating Disorder Collaboration, which has produced a comprehensive national framework document for the Federal Government for the development of preventative interventions, treatment and professional education programs for eating disorders in Australia.
A/Prof Madden is one of Australia’s foremost researchers in the eating disorder field and will contribute to ongoing clinical research at The Redleaf Practice. A/Prof Madden’s research has three major foci; the treatment of anorexia nervosa, early onset eating disorders and the neurobiology of eating disorders.
A/Prof Madden has participated widely in national and international conferences, where he has been invited to present keynote addresses, plenary presentations, symposia and discussion panels on eating, mood and anxiety disorders.
A/Prof Madden sees children, adolescents and adults for assessment and management of eating disorders. A/Prof Madden also sees children with depression, anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder.
