With an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a Master of Nutrition and Dietetics, Gabriella (Gabbi) is the perfect person to guide you through your lifestyle changes. She has undertaken research at the Black Dog Institute, investigating the link between depression and omega-3, and has also studied how skipping breakfast can affect blood sugar levels. She also has a passion for working with children and adolescents, and holds a Certificate in Paediatric Nutrition and Dietetics.
Her specialty is eating disorders and disordered eating, and with more than 15 years working in mental health, she has the right experience to help you cope with the psychological and behavioural aspects to eating. She is President for the Australia & New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders, and is also a member of the Academy for Eating Disorders. She is a member of the Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA), and is the past convenor for the DAA's Eating Disorders Interest Group. In addition, she has training in Motivational Interviewing, Maudsley Family-Based Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Eating Disorders and Sports Nutrition from the Australian Institute of Sport. Gabbi also works part-time as the paediatric dietitian for the Sydney Children's Hospital Network Eating Disorder Service.
Gabbi has completed a PhD at the Children's Hospital at Westmead and University of Adelaide investigating appetite regulation and gut function in adolescents with anorexia nervosa.
